Author's Note: Poll & Review
OPEN ME! Open me! :) Will you write a review, please?
I hope you LOVED The Awakening of a Seer as much as I did! Can you believe we finished the book last week?!! I can’t. 60 weeks of chapters! WOW.
I have two requests, my friend, which will take about the same amount of time as reading the chapters you read each week.
(Author’s Note with historical information is at the bottom of this email.)
Please let me know if you would like me to rerun the serial in the following poll since most of you probably were not here for the beginning of the story over a year ago. Just click yes, no, or start something new.
I am currently writing the screenplay of this novel and I really need reviews. Reviews will help me get my book taken more seriously and they also help other readers decide if my book is worth reading. If you go to this link on Amazon, you can quickly give a review. You can leave just stars or you can write a short review of just one sentence. Whatever you can do would truly be appreciated! I have 45 reviews but need over a 100. Please, click on the photo or the link and just scroll down to where it says “Write a customer review.” https://amzn.to/3JW1FmT
Thank you; thank you; thank you! Now, on to the book!
AUTHOR’S NOTE
The Awakening of a Seer is ultimately about family—a mother’s love for her son and God’s love for each of us. When I first started thinking about this story, I had no idea about the ups and downs and tragedies and betrayals that Julie would go through. I only knew one thing. She was a seer—a prophetic person who didn’t realize that God could and did speak to her in many different ways. I didn’t know that she had been betrayed by her father or that her husband had died. I didn’t realize that her best friend would turn out to be …… (I won’t spell it out here, just in case you skipped to the end!) I just didn’t know. But writing this book and learning about Julie was a fascinating and exciting period in my life, and I hope to continue her family saga in the next book, so make sure to look for it.
A few notes about the setting. The town in the book, Green Cove, was inspired by a little coastal town in NE Florida called Green Cove Springs. The town has a beautiful park with a historical spring and various architectural gems composed of Victorian houses, Gothic churches, and stucco homes. At one point in time, Green Cove Springs was a tourist location for the rich, who arrived by riverboat. It was also the home of Harlem Renaissance Sculptor Augusta Christine Savage. In addition, Green Cove Springs is the wedding spot for Janie and Joe in Zora Neale Hurston’s book, Their Eyes Were Watching God.
But I also have a personal connection to Green Cove Springs. My father-in-law was stationed there. In 1940, it was named Naval Air Station Lee Field but became Naval Air Station Green Cove Springs during WWII. It later became Naval Auxiliary Air Station, then became a part of Naval Air Station Jacksonville, and eventually was sold to a private company. You can still see remnants of the base and Navy Housing in Green Cove Springs.
It also has a real coffee shop with the alligator photo in it!
